Thailand is one of Asia's most LGBTQ friendly nations. Both male and female same-sex activity is legal in Thailand, and LGBTQ discrimination in Thailand is illegal however the law still does not officially recognise same-sex marriages.

Although Thailand is one of the most tolerant countries in Southeast Asia, and has a thriving LGBTQ scene, in general, all public displays of affection, of any sexual orientation, are much rarer in Thailand than in most Western countries.

Thais are naturally quite private and reserved and visitors are advised to follow suit.
